ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF CARE - GIRANNIE DILCHAND
How long have you lived in New York? I was born in Guyana, South America. I've been living in Queens, New York since September 12, 1986. I have two sons who are married and three grandchildren: Amelia, JJ, and Isaiah.
Job Experience: I worked as a registered nurse for 45 years- 10 years in Guyana and 35 years in New York. I retired on September 1, 2020. I have previous experience in labor and delivery and as a nurse anesthetist. I am an active member of the Operating Room Nurses Organization (AORN) and served as president for two terms in the local chapter. I also held other positions in the organization.
My Educational Background: A diploma in nursing from Guyana. Bachelor in Healthcare Administration from USA and certified in operating room nursing. I have maintained basic life support and advanced cardiac life support skills.
My Ministry Experience: I was a minister in training in the church that I came from. I have been on the board of the NY Walk to Emmaus Community for about four years and I'm working with some religious international medical and surgical organizations as a volunteer.
My Favorite Book: Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
My Favorite Scripture: Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
Favorite Bible Figures: Mary and Abraham.
Hobbies: I enjoy traveling, playing golf, doing missionary work (especially working on Mercy Ships), gardening, and spending time with my grandchildren.
My Favorite Food: Of course, Guyanese Curry... and Italian.
Favorite Worship Song: There are many. I set my alarm to “Lord, I Need You” by Matt Maher. I also like “Jesus Paid It All” by Kim Walker-Smith.
