Grow in Christ

Follow-up Groups

Following Jesus requires a great deal of life-change. For someone who is just beginning on this journey, it can be a little disorienting. Follow-up groups bring together 2 or 3 new Christians with a disciple-maker who connects with them on a relational level and helps them become firmly planted in their faith.

Discipleship Classes

Learning new information is crucial to Growing in Christ. Discipleship involves much more than just growing in knowledge, but that doesn’t discount how important learning is. Discipleship Classes are designed to help people who have already been established in the Christian faith to learn essential truths and practices.

The base curriculum spans 3 years, with 9 sessions per year, totaling 27 sessions. The classes are (usually) offered on the third week of each month (excluding December, July, and August). Click here for an overview of the 3-year plan.

As a prerequisite to the Discipleship Classes, we ask participants to first take the Alpha Course. Beacon offers Alpha 3 times per year.  Click here to learn more about Alpha.

To find out which classes are being offered this month and to register, check the Events Calendar.

Discipleship Groups

The Apostle Peter encourages us to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18 emphaisis added). Discipleship Classes can help us grow in knowledge, but grace is something that grows through relationships.

Discipleship Groups bring together 2 or 3 established followers of Jesus who have already participated in the Discipleship Classes. They join together with a disciple-maker in the context of an intimate, long-term relationship. They share life together, engage in spiritual disciplines, and seek to increasingly let the Gospel shape every area of their lives.

Scripture Reading Plans

We have witnessed over and over that something profound happens in a person's life when they begin reading and studying the Bible on their own. A lot of people struggle with feeling motivated to read the Bible and when they do decide to read, they aren't always sure where to start.

Each year, Beacon invites the whole congregation to participate in a Scripture Reading Plan that will provide them with daily readings. The reading plans change from year to year. Some plans cover large portions of Scripture, some take smaller chunks at a time. Some plans are arranged chronologically, some canonically, and some thematically.
